For people who have been mobility-impaired in their homes, going up and down the floors is one big problem. These days, however, that technical problem had been solved by such innovations as the Handicare Stair Lifts Manhattan.

The battery powered mechanism works even without the house power, and has charging point at either the top or bottom of its track.
It also has two remote controls (at each end, top or bottom) to use accordingly when needed. There are safety edges at the footplate and carriage, and the lift automatically stops when it hits an obstruction.
Sterling
The Handicare Stair Lifts Manhattan of the Sterling line has two categories – straight and curved. The straight lifts are used when you need only to travel in one straight line while the curved lifts are those that have to move in staircases with corners or as spirals.
For straight lifts, there is the Simplicity series and the Sterling 1000. Sterling 2000 has the curved stairlift system and has a wide range of configurations added. One is being able to hug the edge of the staircase (space-saving). The curved tracks are all customized and made to order following the details of your curved staircases.
Simplicity / Simplicity+
On the Simplicity, you have a manual swivel with handles at either side of the seat so you can swivel to face the landing where it locks in place and you can dismount safely. The powered swivel moves the seat automatically, but has a manual override for emergency release.
The twin rail system ensures safe and smooth ride in both the straight and curved systems.
Another design innovation is the space-saving factor where the footplate and the seat can be folded up to increase space for use by other users.
Power moves
The footplates have an easy-fold mechanism to minimize the strength needed in folding it up or down. The powered footplate folds or unfolds automatically and operated by a switch on the seat without the user having to bend over in folding or unfolding the plate.
It also has two remote controls that can be operated at either the top or bottom of the stairs. You can move the lift up or down the stairs without having to ride on it. With Handicare Stair lifts, your choice is dependent on your needs, and they have it mostly covered.
